Head of Programming I – Honduras

About the role

As a member of the Honduras Program Senior Management Team, the Head of Programming I provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight of the country programme. The role ensures high‑quality programming for poor and vulnerable populations while managing security risks and fostering a collaborative work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Define and steer the strategic framework and resource‑mobilisation plan for the Country Programme in line with regional and agency priorities.
• Engage with government authorities, donors, UN agencies and partners to build strategic alliances and scale impact.
• Lead high‑quality project design, integrating project‑management standards and MEAL methodologies.
• Coordinate cross‑sectoral activities to ensure integrated and efficient implementation.
• Supervise and develop staff, manage team dynamics, and conduct performance assessments.
• Oversee budgeting, financial stewardship and resource utilisation in partnership with operations and finance teams.
• Direct communications and positioning strategies to enhance stakeholder engagement and organisational visibility.
• Support business development, proposal preparation and partnership strengthening.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in programme management within the development or humanitarian sector.
• Strong strategic planning and resource‑mobilisation capabilities.
• Excellent stakeholder‑engagement skills with experience working with donors, governments and UN agencies.
• Demonstrated ability to manage talent, supervise teams and promote a positive work environment.
• Solid understanding of security risk management and mitigation.
• Experience in budgeting, financial oversight and compliance.
• Effective communication and advocacy skills.
