Senior Accountant for US & Canadian Clients (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to support a portfolio of U.S. and Canadian clients for a fast‑growing professional services firm. The position is 100 % remote on a long‑term contract basis, working full‑time with core hours from 9 am to 5 pm MT. You will own accounting and financial reporting across multiple small‑business accounts while supervising bookkeepers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage general ledger, month‑end close, and financial reporting for several client entities.
• Review and oversee bookkeepers’ work, delegating transactional tasks and ensuring accuracy.
• Perform bank, credit‑card and balance‑sheet reconciliations and oversee AP/AR processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports and KPI analyses.
• Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and support clean‑up projects.
• Provide documentation for external CPAs, tax professionals and payroll accounting.
• Maintain confidential financial records and track productive hours.
• Evaluate and monitor AI‑driven automation workflows to ensure reliable outputs.

Required profile

• Several years of accounting experience with U.S. or Canadian entities, preferably in startup or small‑business environments.
• Proven ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to supervise and mentor junior staff.
• Comfort with remote, technology‑focused work environments.

Required skills

• Knowledge of US GAAP or Canadian accounting standards.
• Experience with month‑end close, financial reporting and reconciliations.
• Familiarity with accounting automation tools and AI‑enhanced workflows.
