Accountant – Honduras Operations

About the role

Food For The Poor is seeking an Accountant to manage the day‑to‑day accounting and financial activities for its Honduras operations. Working closely with the Controller and the headquarters accounting team, you will ensure accurate recording, reconciliation, and reporting of all financial transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting transactions for the Honduras office, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with organizational policies.
• Review invoices and supporting documentation for accuracy, authorization, and correct coding; process approved vendor payments.
• Perform bank and account reconciliations, resolve discrepancies, and support month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
• Maintain complete and accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Conduct financial review of bi‑monthly payroll prepared by Human Resources, validate totals, funding requirements, and accounting treatment.
• Coordinate and process payroll payments following established authorization and control procedures.
• Collaborate with the Controller and headquarters accounting team to consolidate Honduras accounting activities into organizational financial processes and reporting.
• Prepare financial information, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation for reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Serve as the primary liaison with the external accounting firm responsible for Honduras tax filings and audit support.
