About the role
The CH47 Aircraft Technical Inspector ensures that assigned helicopters meet all required specifications and are airworthy before flight. This role involves planning, conducting, and supervising technical inspections, as well as developing quality control and safety programs.
Key responsibilities
- Inspect repairs, modifications, and structural components of CH47 aircraft and engines.
- Develop and implement ground safety and quality control programs to meet contract specifications.
- Audit work centers, maintenance actions, procedures, equipment, and facilities for compliance.
- Examine parts for conformance to design specifications and determine serviceability, tagging each item appropriately.
- Monitor maintenance technical data, review source documents, and initiate corrective actions for recurring discrepancies.
- Manage material deficiency and technical order improvement programs, and review engineering investigation requests.
- Conduct safety inspections, training, and drills; brief pilots and crew for functional check flights.
- Ensure compliance with aircraft configuration control, oil analysis programs, and diagnostic equipment calibration.
- Provide guidance to lower‑level technicians on repair and inspection techniques.
Required profile
- Minimum five (5) years recent aircraft maintenance experience, including at least one (1) year inspecting CH47 aircraft.
- Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license and FAA Inspection Authorization (IA), or equivalent five‑year inspector experience on CH47.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government NAC‑I T1 Public Trust security clearance (US citizenship required).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 50 lb and passing a respirator fit test.
Required skills
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Proficiency with the Unit Level Logistics System‑Aviation Enhanced (ULLS‑AE) maintenance management system.
- Expertise in aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, sheet‑metal structural repair, and use of specialized tools such as torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet‑metal brakes and shears.
- Strong record‑keeping and reporting abilities, including preparation of inspection reports and aircraft logs.
