Frontend Engineer (GIS & Data Visualization)

About the role

We are looking for a Mid to Senior Frontend Engineer who loves turning complex operational and geospatial data into intuitive, interactive web experiences. You will work with modern JavaScript frameworks to build scalable, data‑driven applications that support mapping, dashboards, and accessibility standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain large‑scale interactive maps with layer controls, color‑coding, and manual overrides.
• Create and enhance operational dashboards that translate complex data into actionable UI.
• Implement WCAG 2.1 AA compliant front‑end features and support accessibility testing.
• Integrate geospatial and location‑based data into responsive, user‑friendly map experiences.
• Participate in beta feedback cycles, defect resolution, UI improvements, and overall application hardening.
• Collaborate with the delivery team using documented designs, code reviews, Git workflows, and ticket‑based development.
• Leverage AI‑assisted development tools to improve efficiency and code quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of professional Frontend Development experience.
• Strong hands‑on experience with modern JavaScript frameworks, preferably React or Angular.
• Experience building interactive web‑mapping applications using ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript, MapLibre, Leaflet, Google Maps, or similar.
• Proven track record creating data visualizations, dashboards, and data‑driven UI.
• Experience implementing WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility requirements.
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
• Ability to maintain at least 4 hours of overlap with U.S. Eastern business hours.
