About the role
The Assistant Representative supports the UNFPA Representative in designing, developing and managing an innovative country programme in Honduras. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, translate regional and national priorities into concrete results, and act as the Representative’s delegate when required.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct policy dialogue with government and development partners to integrate UNFPA priorities into national plans and UN system initiatives.
- Translate global strategies into country‑specific advocacy messages, ensuring sensitivity to political and social contexts.
- Lead the design, implementation and monitoring of results‑based programmes, sub‑programmes and projects in reproductive health, gender and demographic change.
- Coordinate technical advisers, consultants and experts, and contribute to UN system coordination through policy dialogue and joint initiatives.
- Identify donor opportunities, prepare proposals and support resource mobilisation for the country programme.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Public Health, Demography, International Development or Economics.
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in development and population programmes, including programme design and management.
- Proven ability to lead teams, achieve measurable results and mobilise resources.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Spanish and English.
- Demonstrated commitment to UN values, gender equality and cultural diversity.
