Professional University Intern – Humanitarian AI

About the role

The internship focuses on systematic review, organisation, and structuring of GOAL’s Technical Guidance documentation, and the automation of GMS Document Centre uploads to create an AI‑ready knowledge base on emergency preparedness, climate resilience, health, nutrition, WASH, market systems, and livelihoods.

Key responsibilities

• Review PTT SharePoint documents.
• Identify and extract key programmatic documents.
• Organise documents within the knowledge base according to a designed taxonomy.
• Apply consistent metadata tagging.
• Structure content for AI‑readiness.
• Ensure documents are properly formatted, accessible, and searchable.
• Identify and flag gaps in documentation and evidence.
• Develop Power Automate flows to keep the knowledge base up to date.
• Collaborate with the Programme Technical Team to understand Technical Guidance.
• Provide regular progress updates to the Digital Technology Programmes Specialist.
• Undertake additional activities related to innovation systems and information management as required.

Required profile

• University student completing a professional internship in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.
• Coursework or projects demonstrating interest or skills in AI/ML, data organisation, workflow automation, or low‑code/no‑code tools.
• Familiarity with Microsoft environments, especially SharePoint and Power Automate.
• Basic understanding of structured information, including fields, categories, consistent naming, and clean data.
• Interest in humanitarian programming and ability to explain technical steps to non‑technical colleagues.
• 100% professional fluency in written and spoken English.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and detail‑oriented approach.
