Staff Accountant – Client Accounting

About the role

Teamswell is seeking a Staff Accountant to manage day‑to‑day accounting operations for a portfolio of venture‑backed startup clients. This full‑time, client‑facing position supports Controllers, Accounting Managers, and senior accountants across transactional and close‑related workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Own accounts payable workflow for multiple client accounts, including invoice review, coding, and processing payments (ACH, check, card).
• Support accounts receivable processes such as invoicing, customer follow‑up, and cash application.
• Perform bank, credit‑card, and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare and post journal entries and supporting schedules under senior review.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, preparing workpapers and schedules.
• Maintain vendor and customer records, W‑9s, 1099 tracking, and ensure consistency across sub‑ledgers and QuickBooks Online.
• Review AP/AR aging reports and flag overdue items or exceptions.
• Communicate professionally with clients and vendors on routine accounting matters and escalate complex issues as needed.
