Temporary Senior Accountant – Remote (Honduras/Peru/Guatemala)

About the role

The Temporary Senior Accountant will support payroll accounting, general ledger, month‑end close and financial reporting for a multinational nonprofit organization. Working remotely from Honduras, Peru or Guatemala, you will collaborate with the Controller, Global Hub teams and country finance units to ensure accurate records, timely reporting and strong internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Import and reconcile payroll journal entries in NetSuite, resolve discrepancies and maintain payroll‑related internal controls.
• Prepare and post general‑ledger journal entries, perform balance‑sheet reconciliations and manage fixed assets, prepaid expenses and vacation accruals.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements under U.S. GAAP, and support budget‑to‑actual variance analysis.
• Provide documentation and schedules for the annual external audit and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
• Offer backup support for accounts payable, employee‑expense reporting and daily bank reporting as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field; CPA or equivalent preferred.
• At least five years of progressive accounting experience, including payroll and grant expense accounting.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
• Experience with nonprofit or grant‑funded organizations and multicurrency environments is a plus.
