Accounting Manager, Client Accounting

About the role

Teamswell is seeking an Accounting Manager, Client Accounting to deliver accounting services for a portfolio of venture‑backed startup clients. Reporting to the Controller, you will act as a secondary point of contact for assigned clients, handling day‑to‑day communication and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Controller as a secondary contact for client engagements, managing routine client communication.
• Maintain accurate financial statements, supporting schedules, and a reliable close process for each client.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual close deliverables, including reconciliations, workpapers, and reporting packages for Controller review.
• Communicate clearly with founders, finance leads, and operators, escalating complex issues as needed.
• Assist in maintaining and improving accounting workflows across core GL, billing, AP, payroll, and related finance tools.
• Identify system gaps, data issues, and workflow inefficiencies, applying AI and automation to enhance efficiency and documentation.

• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex problems quickly.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of interacting with all organizational levels.

Required skills

• Solid accounting judgment across varied business models and reporting requirements.
• Experience with general ledger systems and related finance tools (billing, accounts payable, payroll).
• Familiarity with AI, automation, and modern workflow technologies to improve accounting processes.
