About the role
The Assistant Representative, working closely with the UNFPA Representative, will design, develop and manage an innovative country programme that advances the ICPD agenda and Sustainable Development Goals in a politically sensitive environment.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct policy dialogue with government, UN and development partners to integrate UNFPA priorities into national plans.
- Translate global strategies into country‑specific advocacy messages and results‑based programmes.
- Lead the design, implementation and monitoring of programmes in reproductive health, gender and population development.
- Coordinate technical advisers, consultants and experts to ensure effective programme delivery.
- Identify donor opportunities, prepare proposals and support resource mobilisation.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in public health, demography, international development or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in development and population programmes, including programme design and management.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and achieve measurable results.
- Fluency in Spanish and English; additional UN language is an asset.
