Senior Python Data Engineer – Healthcare EMR/EHR Integrations

About the role

As a Senior Python Data Engineer you will design and implement automated pipelines that extract clinical and patient data from hospice and home‑health EMR/EHR systems and load it into a centralized, HIPAA‑compliant platform. The position is fully remote and focuses on accelerating onboarding for new healthcare clients.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines pulling data from EMR/EHR sources such as Epic, Cerner, MatrixCare, and others.
• Load and store extracted data in a centralized MySQL database, optimizing schema design and query performance.
• Integrate with REST APIs and healthcare standards (FHIR, HL7) and ensure compliance with HIPAA/PHI handling.
• Utilize AI‑assisted coding tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor) in daily development and verify generated code.
• Troubleshoot and extend pipelines as new data sources are added.

Required profile

• 8+ years of data engineering experience with strong Python proficiency.
• Hands‑on experience with EMR/EHR data (e.g., Epic, Cerner, HCHB, MatrixCare).
• Deep knowledge of MySQL schema design, indexing, and query tuning.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON/XML, FHIR, and HL7 standards.
• Advanced English communication skills.
