Student Advisor

About the role

The Student Advisor provides academic guidance and develops personalized educational plans for students across all programs. This role involves direct interaction with students via appointments, phone or video calls, and ensures accurate record‑keeping of all advising activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and communicate academic plans, assist with course registration, and review schedule modification requests.
• Conduct student meetings, maintain detailed advising records, and respond to email and telephone inquiries.
• Refer students to counseling and support services for wellness and personal issues.
• Monitor attendance, identify at‑risk students, and initiate outreach.
• Perform degree audits for licensing, comprehensive, clinical progression, and graduation requirements.
• Support new student orientation, retention initiatives, and coordinate comprehensive exams.
• Participate in committees such as Student Success, Curriculum Advisory, and Department Chair meetings.
• Collaborate with Registrar, Admissions, Financial Aid, and other administrative units.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree in psychology, education, counseling or related field preferred.
• 2–3 years of experience in higher‑education advising or a related setting.
• Strong communication, presentation, and organizational abilities.
• Excellent customer‑service skills with experience serving diverse populations.
• Ability to handle confidential records discreetly and maintain attention to detail.
• Proven multitasking capability and ability to meet deadlines.
• Self‑motivated yet collaborative, with a commitment to student success.
