Technician, IT Support

About the role

The OT Technician is the first line of defense for Gildan’s industrial digital transformation. Reporting to the OT Administrator, you will install, connect, and maintain hardware that links shop‑floor equipment to the digital layer across global manufacturing sites.

Key responsibilities

• Execute physical mounting, wiring, and field terminations (Ethernet, fiber, serial) of IoT sensors, gateways, and PLC modules according to engineering designs and industrial standards.
• Provide rapid on‑site troubleshooting for hardware failures and perform routine preventive maintenance to minimise production downtime.
• Maintain up‑to‑date inventory of OT hardware, spare parts, and specialised tools; document wiring changes and keep site diagrams current.
• Conduct monthly physical audits to verify that installed hardware matches the digital asset registry and the Manufacturing Integration Roadmap.
• Keep OT cabinets and server racks clean and organised, reporting any environmental risks such as heat, dust, or moisture.

Required profile

• University degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (100%).
• Approximately 1 year of hands‑on experience with industrial IoT, PLC hardware, or related field; no managerial experience required.
