Benefits Data & Audit Specialist

About the role

The Benefits Data & Audit Specialist ensures the accuracy and integrity of client benefit data following open enrollment periods. This role involves processing insurance elections, maintaining records in carrier portals, and conducting audits to verify correct billing and enrollment.

Key responsibilities

• Add, terminate, and update employee benefit elections in carrier portals after open enrollment.
• Process mid‑year benefit changes such as new hires, qualifying life events, and coverage terminations.
• Pull and review carrier invoices to confirm that all enrolled employees are billed correctly.
• Cross‑reference carrier invoices with client enrollment records to identify discrepancies.
• Document and resolve audit findings by coordinating with carriers and internal teams.
• Utilize Excel to merge, filter, and cross‑reference large data sets for audit purposes.
• Maintain clear documentation of all changes, corrections, and communications.
• Assist in generating periodic reports for internal review and client updates.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of experience in benefits administration, HR, payroll, or insurance carrier operations.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data merging).
• Familiarity with online carrier portals.
• Experience with benefits administration systems.
