Collections Specialist – Healthcare Billing

About the role

Impact BPO is seeking an experienced Collections Specialist to join its Advanced Rx team in Tegucigalpa. The role focuses on managing healthcare accounts, following up on unpaid or denied claims, and recovering outstanding funds.

Key responsibilities

• Manage an assigned portfolio of healthcare accounts and outstanding claims.
• Follow up on unpaid, underpaid, and denied insurance claims to secure payments.
• Contact insurance carriers, adjusters, and claims representatives to investigate claim status and resolve balances.
• Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), reimbursement policies, fee schedules, denials, and payment discrepancies.
• Prepare and submit appeals, corrected claims, and supporting documentation when necessary.
• Negotiate with insurance carriers and adjusters to resolve payment disputes and maximize reimbursements.
• Maintain accurate account records and document all collection activities.
• Monitor collection performance, meet targets, and ensure timely follow‑ups.

Required profile

• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in healthcare billing, medical collections, insurance claims follow‑up, or revenue cycle management.
• Proven experience handling unpaid, underpaid, or denied claims.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet collection goals.
• Excellent English communication skills (C1 level or near‑native).
• Strong analytical, investigative, negotiation, and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Pharmacy billing (highly desirable) or willingness to learn pharmaceutical terminology.
• Knowledge of EOBs, reimbursement policies, fee schedules, appeals, denials, and payment reconciliation.
• Experience communicating and negotiating with insurance carriers, adjusters, or claims representatives.
