Elixir Backend Engineer – Remote (Latin America)

About the role

FullStackFullStack is seeking an experienced Elixir Backend Engineer to join its talent network and work remotely with U.S. clients across Latin America. You will become an integral part of the client’s engineering team, collaborating daily with designers and other engineers to deliver high‑performance backend services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs using Elixir and the Phoenix framework.
• Build and support backend services that power React Native mobile applications.
• Integrate third‑party APIs and ensure reliable connectivity.
• Work with legacy codebases, improving reliability and maintainability.
• Implement automated testing and continuous integration/delivery pipelines.
• Utilize containerization (Docker) and modern CI/CD workflows.
• Leverage AI‑assisted development tools and remote environments such as GitHub Codespaces.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven production experience with Elixir and Phoenix.
• Advanced English proficiency.
• Completed a four‑year college degree.
• Strong background in API design, relational databases, and mobile backend services.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Ecto, and SQL.
• Track record of working with legacy systems and automated testing.
• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD, and remote development tools.
• Ability to take extreme ownership and work effectively in Agile/Scrum teams.
