Head of Programming I – Honduras

About the role

The Head of Programming I will join the Honduras Program senior management team to provide strategic direction, leadership and oversight of high‑quality programmes that serve poor and vulnerable populations. This senior position ensures that programmes are well‑designed, effectively implemented and continuously improved.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and steer the Country Program strategic framework and resource‑mobilisation plans in line with regional and agency priorities.
• Engage with government officials, donors, UN agencies and partner organisations to build strategic partnerships.
• Lead high‑quality project design, integrating MEAL standards and ensuring cross‑sectoral coordination.
• Supervise and coach staff, manage team dynamics and promote a positive work environment.
• Oversee learning, knowledge management and the implementation of the MEAL policy.
• Coordinate budgeting and resource stewardship with operations and finance teams.
• Direct communications and visibility strategies to strengthen stakeholder engagement.
• Support business development, proposal preparation and compliance with donor standards.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in humanitarian or development programming.
• Strong ability to manage multi‑disciplinary teams and foster staff development.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership‑building skills.
• Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, resource mobilisation and programme budgeting.
• Ability to operate in a security‑sensitive environment and mitigate risks.
