Senior Database Administrator

About the role

The Senior Database Administrator reports to the IT Infrastructure Manager and is responsible for the continuous availability, performance, and security of Gildan’s global database ecosystem, which spans Oracle, SQL Server, and cloud platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, configure, maintain, and upgrade enterprise Oracle, SQL Server, and cloud databases (Azure/Snowflake) while enforcing standards.
• Diagnose and resolve complex performance bottlenecks through index, memory, CPU, and space analysis.
• Partner with BI and development teams to design optimal database schemas, write SQL scripts, and tune stored procedures.
• Manage change implementations, ensuring thorough testing to avoid downtime.
• Enforce security policies, manage user profiles, and maintain SOX documentation.
• Maintain and test the Disaster Recovery plan and keep documentation up to date.

Required profile

• 10+ years of production DBA experience in a multi‑platform enterprise environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience working in a regulated environment with strict security protocols.
• Willingness to participate in a rotational on‑call schedule supporting 24/7 operations.
