Senior Rust Engineer

About the role

Kake is a remote‑first community of senior engineers building high‑performance, memory‑safe backend services. As a Senior Rust Engineer you will own complex technical challenges from design through production and help raise the engineering bar across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, memory‑safe backend services and distributed systems in Rust.
• Write high‑performance, concurrent code using async/await patterns and frameworks such as Tokio.
• Guide architectural decisions, mentor teammates, and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues and improve CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with hands‑on Rust development.
• Deep understanding of Rust ownership, borrow checker, lifetimes, traits and macros.
• Strong systems‑programming background, including multithreading, concurrency and performance optimisation.
• Proven ability to design highly scalable backend services and distributed systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills in English.
• Self‑motivated and able to work independently in a fast‑paced remote environment.
