Venture Capital Investment Consultant

About the role

The IDB Lab Venture Capital Investments unit seeks a dynamic, client‑oriented professional with strong analytical and financial skills to support the investment officer in debt operations within the Loans team.

Key responsibilities

• Originate and screen deal flow for potential debt opportunities, building relationships with private‑sector stakeholders and investment officers across the region.
• Assess high‑impact start‑ups, coordinating sourcing, screening, structuring and due‑diligence processes, including financial analysis, modeling, credit underwriting and market analysis.
• Prepare investment concept notes, memoranda, and strategic documents; maintain internal systems tracking debt opportunities.
• Support investment review discussions, supervise debt positions, and coordinate country reports with other IDB Lab units.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Finance, Business or related field; CFA highly valued.
• At least 5 years of transactional experience in debt operations at a financial institution, with a proven track record in financial analysis, modeling and investment memoranda preparation.
• Experience in Latin America and the Caribbean is a plus.
• Fluent in English and Spanish; Portuguese or French a plus.
