HIPAA Compliance Engineer (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for a HIPAA Compliance Engineer to design, build, and maintain secure systems that protect sensitive health information. This remote position will work closely with engineering teams to embed privacy‑by‑design principles into our platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement technical safeguards to achieve full HIPAA compliance across all environments.
• Integrate and manage EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or AthenaHealth with internal workflows.
• Develop and maintain audit‑logging and monitoring solutions for Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Architect secure data exchange pipelines using HL7 and FHIR standards.
• Collaborate with development teams to embed security protocols throughout the software lifecycle.
• Conduct regular technical risk assessments and remediate identified vulnerabilities.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on HIPAA‑compliant systems.
• Proven track record handling PHI and implementing security controls.
• Hands‑on experience with EHR integrations and healthcare interoperability standards.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
