Collections Specialist

About the role

As a Collections Specialist you will recover outstanding balances on delinquent accounts while maintaining a professional and compliant approach. You will engage consumers via phone, resolve objections, and secure payments in line with federal and state regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage assigned delinquent accounts through inbound and outbound calls.
• Secure payments, settlements, or structured payment arrangements.
• Explain balances, account status, and resolution options clearly.
• Handle objections, stalls, and disputes using approved talk‑offs and rebuttals.
• Document call outcomes, notes, and commitments accurately in the system.
• Maintain compliance with FDCPA, Reg F, state laws, and client policies.
• Meet or exceed defined performance targets.
• Participate in coaching sessions, QA reviews, and refresher training.
• Escalate disputes, complaints, or compliance concerns appropriately.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of experience in third‑party collections, sales, customer retention, or call‑center environments.
• Strong verbal communication with a professional phone presence.
• Proven negotiation and persuasion abilities.
• Ability to manage difficult conversations calmly and confidently.
• High attention to detail and accurate documentation skills.
