Deputy to the Garrison Commander

About the role

The Deputy to the Garrison Commander provides senior administrative leadership for a large, multi‑mission military garrison. This position ensures effective installation and tenant operations, aligning daily activities with higher‑level policies and strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and direct installation and tenant activity operations across the garrison.
• Provide program direction to supervisors, site leads, civilian directors, and special staff in multiple functional areas.
• Formulate goals, policies, and objectives, and implement internal controls for accountability.
• Monitor implementation of higher‑level guidance and recommend adaptations for local conditions.
• Oversee compliance with security clearance, financial disclosure, and eligibility requirements.
• Coordinate temporary duty (TDY) travel, which may account for up to 20% of time.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• Willingness to submit required financial disclosure reports and undergo background investigations.
• Eligibility to meet DoD civilian personnel management regulations for foreign area assignments.
• Ability to complete pre‑employment and annual medical examinations and required immunizations.
• Acceptance of a one‑year probationary period for supervisory performance assessment.
