About the role

The Deputy to the Garrison Commander provides senior administrative leadership for a large, multi‑mission military installation. This position ensures effective coordination of tenant activities, policy implementation, and accountability across the garrison.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and direct installation and tenant activity operations for a large multi‑mission garrison.
• Provide administrative program direction to supervisors, civilian directors, and special staff across various functional areas.
• Formulate goals, policies, and objectives; implement internal control systems to ensure accountability.
• Monitor implementation of higher‑level policies, adapt guidance for local conditions, and make recommendations.
• Oversee compliance with financial disclosure, security clearance, and DoD personnel management requirements.
• Coordinate travel, TDY, and rotational assignments as needed.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
• Eligibility for suitability or fitness determination after a background investigation.
• Submission of Public or Confidential Financial Disclosure Report upon entry and annually.
• Male applicants born after 12/31/1959 must complete Selective Service certification.
• Compliance with DoD Civilian Personnel Management System requirements.
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time and meet pre‑employment medical and immunization requirements.
• Willingness to accept a one‑year probationary period and potential rotational assignments.
