About the role
The Compliance Officer will support the organization in preventing money laundering, terrorist financing and related financial crimes. Based in Tegucigalpa, the role ensures that the company meets all regulatory obligations for non‑financial activities, especially in the real‑estate sector.
Key responsibilities
- Execute and monitor client, supplier and counterpart due‑diligence processes.
- Analyze natural and legal persons, corporate structures, shareholders and ultimate beneficial owners.
- Review alerts and matches from screening tools for PEPs, sanctions, restricted lists and adverse news, determining relevance and required actions.
- Identify, document and escalate compliance risks and findings.
- Support the anti‑money‑laundering (AML) and counter‑terrorism financing (CTF) prevention system.
- Ensure compliance with regulations applicable to Designated Non‑Financial Activities (APNFD), including real‑estate.
- Prepare reports and documentation required by competent authorities.
- Respond to regulator inquiries, inspections and audits.
- Assist in updating policies, procedures, risk matrices and controls as regulations evolve.
- Participate in training, monitoring, KPI tracking and other compliance program initiatives.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Law or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in compliance, AML/CTF, risk, audit, legal or related areas.
- Strong analytical ability, attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
Required skills
- Knowledge of AML/CTF regulations and applicable standards.
- Experience with KYC, PEP, ultimate beneficial owner and due‑diligence processes.
- Familiarity with international sanctions, restricted lists and screening methodologies.
- Ability to manage third‑party risk and handle regulator requests.
- Proficiency with technological tools and platforms for information analysis.
